I Dream of Wires

“An independent documentary film about the phenomenal resurgence of the modular synthesizer, exploring the passions, obsessions, and dreams of people who have dedicated part of their lives to this esoteric electronic music machine. Inventors, musicians, and enthusiasts are interviewed about their relationship with the modular synthesizer. For many, it’s an all-consuming passion. Featuring artists including Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan, Clark, James Holden and Factory Floor. Directed by Robert Fantinatto, 90 min.

A post-screening discussion with leading academics and artists from New England—including Joe Paradiso of the MIT Media Lab and Richard Boulanger, Professor of Electronic Production and Design at Berklee College of Music—will follow the screening.

The film is a part of TOGETHER BOSTON festival which is in its fifth year as a city-wide celebration of music, art and technology. Through a series of daytime discussions and nighttime concerts, featuring local and international talent, the festival seeks to put the city and New England at the center of an independent and bold festival experience.”
